EDCO has taken another step towards reducing its carbon footprint with the introduction of four new Near Zero (NZ) Natural Gas powered over-the-road, day cab tractors. These new tractor/trailer combos are among the first over-the-road NZ engines in the State of California, reflecting the recent release of the technologically advanced engine in this larger class.
Near Zero engines produce almost zero emission of Nitrous Oxide (NOx), which is the primary contributor to air pollution. The cleaner and quieter NZ engines produce NOx emissions that are 90% less than 2010 standards, with ten NZ engines producing the equivalent of a single 2010 engine’s NOx output. These new vehicles are U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and California Air Resources Board (CARB) certified and meets the State of California 2023 NOx and 2031 petroleum reduction goals.
EDCO’s new NZ CNG tractors are another example of the company’s continued commitment and dedication to sustainable solutions, including the use of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). EDCO continues to develop options for the production of RNG through the capturing and cleaning of methane from organics to fuel its fleet.
